REVIEW BY VIRUS! MAGAZINE [Germany]: PHALLUS ÜBER ALLES Iron Woman Label: Fatal Recordings "Self-described as "feminist digital hardcore electronic punk," Phallus Über Alles delivers an instant electro-punk classic with Iron Woman. For a true reference point, you will have to hearken back to London, circa 1979. In a fashion similar to anarcho-punk band Crass, the band shouts over the din and cacophony of feminist angst and in-your-face music with a modern twist of nasty techno beats, electronic grindcore, and complete DIY attitude. Locker room rants about sex and oppression permeate the CD, but the band also takes a stab at political hypocrisy with a general mockery of the quasi-puritanical/corporate fascistic agenda currently infiltrating and polluting the entire planet. Although some may accuse the band of leftist propaganda, the CD is far too personal and loaded with bits of humor, so this is definitely not just a CD packed with a fistful of fury and covert agenda. It is what a good punk album should be: an intelligent array of songs that will vibrate your ass of the couch." Rating: 8 out of 10 skulls. Visit Reviewer Site |
